TOPAZ STUDIO CLEAR RECENT TRIAL
It's free for a 30 day trial (you download Topaz Studio and then select AI Clear for trial in that) so can see how it works for you. The only thing to be careful of is setting the "strength" of the AI Clear - I find between 0.6 and 1.0 work best depending on the sort of image. I have compared the before and after across many images and the results are excellent - AI Clear makes a number of subtle changes (more than just NR) that really improve the image for a simple one-off click. Then do any other changes in PS generate jpg in PS. I create a duplicate layer in PS and then run AI Clear from within Photoshop - you have to launch Topaz Studio from the Filter menu is PS and then run AI Clear in Topaz Studio with the whatever settings you want and then Save in Topaz Studio - PS then adds the AI Clear settings to the new layer in PS. Always set Noise Filter Off and Sharpness -2 in Workspace and then output 16 bit TIFF from Workspace to Photoshop. I first develop the RAW file in Olympus Workspace (I prefer the raw development here than Adobe). AI Clear works either in the Topaz Studio or as a plug-in to Photoshop. I have started using AI Clear on my photos. I don't think if I would say it is doing a better job than Prime, but it is doing a very good job considering only at the jpg level. I still prefer to use RAW and Prime NR for denoising tasks, then can use Sharpen AI as a PS plug-in if needed in my workflow.įor those people who are mainly jpg shooters, or if you wanted to use the jpg instead of the raw for those times where the camera jpg is good enough, then the Topaz Clear/Sharpen AI programs seem to work magic on the jpg's. Have not used AI Clear, but it seems to have some similar properties as Sharpen, including the excellent denoise abilities, but from what I understand, these programs work on jpg's only and not raw. I also notice that the program does a very good denoise as well as a side benefit. I have recently been using Topaz Sharpen AI and am blown away at the results with regards to what it can do for slightly blurred shots. Really better than PRIME? hard to believe It is using AI techniques to accomplish what it does. After many comparisons, I am thinking AI Clear is doing a better job. Plus it sharpens the image in a very good way. But I have recently started using Topaz AI Clear, and it is really good too. I have used DxO Prime for years, and know how good it is. The Prime noise reduction in PhotoLab is the best.
